The location of Poverty Point National Monument, this site shows evidence of a Native American culture in Louisiana from 1200 BC. There are earthen mounds and complex ridges, as well as evidence of far-reaching trade. There is now an interpretive museum and guided walking and tram tours.

The Mansfield State Historic Site marks the site of the Battle of Pleasant Hill, a major Civil War battle. The museum features Civil War weapons, arms, uniforms and other artefacts. An interpretive trail named after General Mouton winds through the site.

This museum of art was started as a donation by an alumnus of Centenary College, and has grown since then. There is a permanent collection, including the Despujols Collection, which chronicles the artist's journey through Indo-China. There is also a variety of changing exhibits.
